The Ration Ticket

Excerpt from the diary of Jules Flegmon.

14 May . -- Mme. Dumont lost her ration tickets. It's a real nuisance, for in order to obtain a new one, you have to wait at least two months. She's accusing her husband of having hidden it from her so that he can be rid of her. I don't believe that he'd have such a black heart.

Spring has never been as beautiful as this year. I'm sorry to have to die the day after tomorrow.
