The Battlefield Band
On what is promoted as their 35th anniversary tour, this venerable
Scottish band is--from the few sound clips I've heard--sounding better
than it has in years.
The current line up features the estimable Mike Katz (Highland pipes/
small pipes/various whistles/bass guitar), founding member Alan Reid
(keyboards/guitar/vocals), Alasdair White (fiddle/whistle/banjo/
bazouki/Highland and small pipes/bodhran), and returning member Pat
Kilbride.

Tannahill Weavers
Except for the ever-shifting highland bagpipe slot, the Tannies have
had the same lineup for quite a few years now. With stable
membership and a consistent musical approach you know exactly what
you're going to get from these guys, and it's good: tight instrumental
sets and gorgeous Scottish songs. The highland pipes, flute, fiddle,
guitar, bouzouki standard formula will sound familiar--it's a formula
they helped establish.
Some publicity for this event still says it's September 19th, but that's
obsolete info. The October 3rd date has been confirmed.
